Vana is a blockchain project that lets you control and monetize your personal data. It operates as an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain, enabling you to contribute your data to decentralized pools called DataDAOs. These DataDAOs tokenize and securely store your data, making it accessible for applications like AI development and decentralized apps (dApps).

By participating in Vana, you can earn rewards when your data is used to train AI models. The platform ensures your privacy and security through advanced technologies like Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) and Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs). Additionally, as a VANA token holder, you can participate in governance decisions, influencing the network's future direction.

Vana empowers you to control and monetize your personal data. You can export your data from various platforms and store it securely in your personal server, protected by your private encryption key. 

By joining DataDAOs—decentralized data collectives—you pool your data with others. These DataDAOs negotiate directly with AI companies and developers, allowing you to earn rewards when your data is used to train AI models.

The VANA token facilitates this ecosystem. It enables data validation, governance, and access within the network. When AI companies want to access data from a DataDAO, they use VANA tokens to purchase and burn the DataDAO's specific tokens. This process ensures that value flows back to you and other data contributors.

Vana began as an MIT research project in 2018, aiming to give users control over their data and the AI models they help create.

In September 2024, Vana secured $25 million in funding to advance user-owned AI. This included a $5 million strategic round with Coinbase Ventures, an $18 million Series A with Paradigm, and a $2 million seed round led by Polychain.

The Vana Foundation, established to promote decentralized AI, announced the mainnet launch on December 16, 2024. This launch introduced the VANA token, central to data validation, governance, and access within the network.

Looking ahead, Vana plans to onboard 100 million users, aggregate the world's largest training dataset, and develop a user-owned foundation model.

VANA is the native token of the Vana network, serving multiple purposes:

1. Transaction Fees: You use VANA to pay for all transactions within the network, including smart contract executions and data operations.

2. Network Security: Validators stake VANA to secure the blockchain and validate transactions, ensuring network reliability.

3. DataDAO Staking: By staking VANA in DataDAOs, you support data liquidity pools and earn rewards, promoting high-quality data contributions.

4. Governance: Holding VANA allows you to participate in voting on proposals and network parameters, contributing to decentralized decision-making.

5. Data Access: VANA serves as the default currency for accessing datasets managed by DataDAOs, facilitating seamless data utilization across applications.

Additionally, you can trade VANA tokens on various cryptocurrency exchanges, including the KuCoin Spot Market, providing liquidity and investment opportunities.

VANA is the native token of the Vana network, designed to facilitate user-owned data and decentralized AI. The total supply of VANA tokens is capped at 1 billion. 

1. Core Contributors: Allocated 18.8% of the total supply. No tokens are released at the Token Generation Event (TGE). These tokens have a 12-month lock-up period, followed by a 48-month linear unlock, becoming fully unlocked by month 60.

2. Community: Receives 44.0% of the total supply. At TGE, 20.3% of this allocation is released. The remaining tokens are unlocked linearly over 36 months, with no initial lock-up, reaching full availability by month 36.

3. Investors: Granted 14.2% of the total supply. There is no release at TGE. These tokens are subject to a 12-month lock-up, followed by a 36-month linear unlock, becoming fully unlocked by month 48.

4. Ecosystem: Allocated 22.9% of the total supply. At TGE, 4.8% of this allocation is released. The remaining tokens are unlocked linearly over 48 months, with no initial lock-up, reaching full availability by month 48.
