After three days of mining, you can create a Security Circle by adding members you trust. Each active member in your Security Circle boosts your mining rate by 20%, up to a maximum of 100% with five members. 

As the network grows, Pi aims to build a peer-to-peer ecosystem where you can use Pi to exchange goods and services within the community. In the Open Network phase after the mainnet launch, Pi plans to allow external connectivity, enabling broader use cases and integration with other blockchains.

Pi Network was founded by Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis and Dr. Chengdiao Fan. They launched the project on March 14, 2019—Pi Day.

The development of Pi Network has progressed through several key phases:

1. Beta Phase (Phase I): Started in December 2018 with the mobile app's alpha prototype, leading to the official launch in March 2019.
