Wrapped Ethereum (WETH)
Wrapped Ether or Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) is an ERC-20 token version of Ether - Ethereum blockchain’s native cryptocurrency. Unlike native Ether, the ERC-20 token WETH can be used by decentralized apps and be traded against Ethereum-based digital assets on DeFi platforms.
The value of Wrapped Ether is pegged to that of ETH. WETH does not have a fixed circulating supply or total supply. The wrapped assets have another significant advantage - that of interoperability.
WETH can function across multiple blockchain networks beyond Ethereum. The wrapped or tokenized version of native assets thus enjoys higher liquidity and demand, supported by numerous blockchain ecosystems.
