      Dogecoin ($DOGE) was created in 2013 by IBM software engineer Billy Markus and Adobe software engineer Jackson Palmer. They created Dogecoin to spoof the wild speculation of Bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies at the time. 

      Interestingly, the Co-founder, Jackson Palmer, left the cryptocurrency community disappointed in 2015. He believed that cryptocurrency, originally conceived as a libertarian alternative to money, had already become fundamentally exploitative and built to enrich its top proponents.
