Amulet focuses on the intersection of investment and insurance in the Web3 sector. It's the first platform of its kind to combine these two aspects, offering users a way to earn while also providing built-in loss protection. This makes it particularly interesting in the decentralized finance (DeFi) landscape.
The project is deeply rooted in the Solana ecosystem, having started as the first and only DeFi insurance protocol on Solana since early 2022. Amulet V2, an upgrade to the original platform, expands its scope to include a wider range of Web3 spaces, including Ethereum and its Layer 2 solutions. The Amulet protocol is designed to provide comprehensive and competitive insurance coverage for various aspects of the crypto world, including GameFi, the metaverse, NFTs, and other emerging technologies.
Amulet is built on Rust-based ecosystems, starting with Solana, offering it the distinctive strengths of Solana, such as lower costs and higher throughput. The protocol employs a Protocol-Controlled Reserves (PCR) approach, which is a significant change from the traditional model of drawing directly on underwriters' capital for claim payouts.
The AMU token plays a central role in the protocol. Its distribution includes allocations for team and advisors, DAO reserves, a protocol risk fund, business and community incentives, and provisions for liquidity on exchange listings.
