Blockchain Bridge

IntermediateLast Updated October 14, 2025

A blockchain bridge offers a way to connect two different blockchain ecosystems, allowing data and tokens to be transferred between them. Even if the blockchain networks have different protocols, infrastructure, and operating models, a bridge offers a way to establish compatibility between them.

Blockchain bridges offer dApps the benefits of achieving greater decentralization and scalability, gaining access to more tokens, data, and versatility. They can broadly be of two kinds: centralized bridges that require the use of a mediator that forms the connection, trustless bridges that are of a more decentralized nature, and trust can be placed on a piece of programmable code.
